Which material to choose

Nitrile is the most widely specified glove in Kenyan clinics today. It is latex-free, offers the highest puncture resistance of the three materials, and tolerates a broader range of disinfectants and cleaning chemicals. The correct choice for any facility that cannot rule out latex sensitivity among staff or patients, and for any procedure involving blood or sharps.

Latex remains preferred by dentists and surgeons who need maximum tactile sensitivity and a close, elastic fit during fine-motor work. It is not suitable where latex allergy is a concern. Powder-free latex is mandated in most clinical settings — Jodroc supplies powder-free only.

Vinyl is the most cost-effective option and is appropriate for lower-risk, non-sterile tasks such as general cleaning, food handling, and basic patient care where chemical or biological exposure risk is low. Its lower elasticity means it is less suited to precision procedures.

Ordering & supply

Jodroc supplies examination gloves from a minimum of one box (100 pieces). Most facilities order by the carton (10 boxes, 1,000 pieces) — carton pricing works out 8–12% lower per unit and is the standard for monthly restocking orders.

Stock in Nairobi covers nitrile and latex in medium and large in all standard quantities. XS, XL, and vinyl variants are available with 3–5 working days lead time from our import cycle. Same-day dispatch for in-stock items ordered before 12:00 noon.

Certificates of conformity (CE, ISO 13485) are supplied with each carton and are available separately on request for facility audits, SHA empanelment packs, or KEBS inspection documentation.

Frequently asked questions

How much do examination gloves cost in Kenya?+

Examination gloves in Kenya cost KES 700–950 per box of 100 for nitrile, KES 450–650 for latex, and KES 420–600 for vinyl. Carton pricing (1,000 pieces) reduces the per-unit cost by 8–12%. Contact Jodroc for a bulk price list.

What are examination gloves used for?+

Examination gloves protect healthcare workers and patients during clinical examinations, phlebotomy, wound dressing changes, IV line insertion, and general patient care tasks. They are single-use and must be disposed of between patients to prevent cross-contamination.

What is the difference between nitrile and latex examination gloves?+

Nitrile gloves are synthetic and latex-free, making them the safe choice for anyone with latex sensitivity. They resist punctures and a wide range of chemicals better than latex. Latex gloves offer higher tactile sensitivity and elasticity — preferred for fine-motor procedures — but are contraindicated where latex allergy is a concern.

What sizes of examination gloves are available in Kenya?+

Jodroc supplies examination gloves in XS, S, M, L, and XL. Medium and large are stocked in Nairobi for immediate dispatch; XS and XL are available on a 3–5 day lead time. Nitrile and latex are available in all five sizes; vinyl in S, M, L, and XL.

Are the gloves CE-certified?+

Yes. All examination gloves supplied by Jodroc carry CE marking under EU MDR 2017/745 and are manufactured to EN 455-1 to EN 455-4 (medical gloves for single use). ISO 13485 manufacturing certificates are available on request for SHA empanelment packs and regulatory submissions.

Can I order a mixed carton of sizes?+

Yes. Jodroc can mix sizes within a single carton order — for example, 4 boxes of medium and 6 boxes of large — subject to a minimum carton total. Contact us to specify your size split when requesting a price list.
