Diagnostics & Imaging

Imaging equipment is specified around the room it goes into as much as around the patient. An intraoral unit needs almost nothing beyond a wall mount and shielding. A panoramic, cephalometric or CBCT machine needs a room sized and shielded for it, with power and earthing checked before the unit arrives. A mobile C-arm or portable X-ray needs none of that, and trades it for a lower resolution. Jodroc specifies the imaging equipment against the room, not just the model, and supplies the lead aprons, screens and radiation monitoring that go with it so the installation is licence-ready rather than something a facility has to chase afterward.

Common questions

What is the difference between an intraoral X-ray and a panoramic machine?

An intraoral unit gives a 2D close-up of one to four teeth at the lowest dose and needs only a wall mount. A panoramic machine images both jaws end to end in a single rotating exposure and needs a dedicated, shielded room. A CBCT builds a 3D volume of the teeth, bone and nerve canals and costs substantially more than either.

Does Jodroc supply the radiation shielding as well as the imaging equipment?

Yes. Lead aprons, screens and radiation monitoring are supplied and specified alongside the imaging unit itself, so the installation is ready for the facility's radiation safety licensing rather than left for the practice to source separately.

Can a clinic buy a digital sensor without replacing the whole X-ray unit?

In most cases, yes. Digital sensors and phosphor plates are supplied as an upgrade to an existing intraoral X-ray unit where the generator is compatible, which is usually cheaper than replacing the whole system.
